“We upgraded to the Garbage Doctor products after being unhappy with the performance of our previous deodorising spray system, which was attempting to mask odours instead of removing them. Our building is 24 levels and since Purifying Solutions installed their Garbage Doctor system we have had no odour problems in our rubbish chute.”

How Garbage Chutes Spread Odours and Disease

It is a fact of life that with apartment living you are exposed to the waste generated by other members of your complex.

Your garbage chute works in the same way as a chimney; with odours and harmful airborne microorganisms being sucked up the chute, to be inhaled by residents as they open the chute doors to dispose of their waste.

Management and a Body Corporate have a joint responsibility to address the spreading of airborne pathogens and disease within public areas, including the garbage system.

A Typical Garbage Chute Without Germ and Odour Control

Spreading Odours and Germs in a Garbage Chute

The natural up-draft created by your garbage chute causes the odours and bacteria within your rubbish bins (or rubbish compactor) to be sucked up your garbage chute, and escape from the chute doors on each floor of your building.

These odours and airborne pathogens then get inhaled by residents and guests; potentially spreading both unpleasant odours and disease.

The Garbage Doctor products have been designed to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to control odours and germs in your Garbage System.
