Using scented vapour for garbage odour control
Neutralise the odour first, then add a fragrance. That's how scented vapour works in a garbage system, and why residents love a scented chute.
Neutralise first
For most buildings, neutralising the odour is the minimum standard for their waste management. By far the most effective way to deodorise a garbage chute, bin room or compactor is an ozone system, such as the Garbage Doctor®.
Adding a pleasant fragrance once the odour is neutralised gives excellent results, and scenting is very popular with residents and building managers. We regularly hear from building managers whose residents love their scented chute or bin room. We also scent hotel lobbies, conference rooms and other public spaces, with a choice of fragrances.
How does the scenting work?
Scent mixed with the smell of rubbish isn't pleasant. So once the ozone has neutralised the odour, a scented vapour is released into the area: usually the garbage chute.
The scenting system has a control unit, which sets how strong the scent is, and a scent tank, which holds the liquid fragrance ready to vaporise. The vapour travels through a tube from the tank to where the vapour is needed. Our systems, designed and built here in Australia, make an extremely fine vapour that stays in the air longer, so the scent spreads well through a large area. We only use and recommend Australian-made fragrances, to meet our strict air quality standards.
An example: the Duo, with ozone and scent
The Duo's main unit (A) is mounted on the bin room wall, with the ozone equipment and the scenting controls, connected to the scent tank (B). Grey PVC conduit runs along the wall where the bins are kept, with small holes to release the ozone just above them, and flexible hose takes the ozone into the bins under the chute, neutralising the odour before the odour is drawn up the chute. The scent tank sends a vapour through a white pipe into the chute, where the vapour rises, and a little escapes around the chute door on each level, so the building's waste system feels clean and pleasant to use. There's a choice of fragrances, to suit your building.
