With ozone: bin rooms and chutes

Add a fragrance to the ozone you already have

Garbage Doctor Scenting is designed for buildings that already have a Garbage Doctor and want to add a fragrance to the chute, bin room or compactor, and for anywhere that needs heavy-duty scenting on its own, such as a lobby or a public space (for example, through the return air line of an HVAC system).

For a bin room, we recommend neutralising the odour first: scent mixed with the smell of rubbish isn't pleasant. So the ozone system already in the bin room is usually re-piped to target the bins or compactor, and the scent goes into the chute. A little of the scent escapes around the chute door on each level, so residents and guests notice a clean, pleasant smell whenever they use the chute. With ozone in the bin room, scenting the chute is a customer favourite, with excellent feedback from residents and building managers.

Garbage Doctor and Scenting off

A bin room with a garbage chute rising to the first floorOdour rises from the bins, swirls around the room, travels up the chute and escapes at the chute door on the floor above. Then the Garbage Doctor and Scenting switch on: ozone travels through conduit to the bins and breaks the odour down, and the scent tank sends a fragrance up the chute and out at the chute door on the floor above.Level 1Bin roomCHUTE

How Garbage Doctor Scenting works with a Garbage Doctor: ozone neutralises the odour at the bins, and the scent tank sends a fragrance up the garbage chute.

An installation, and how the system works

In this installation, the Scenting control unit (B) is mounted on the wall and connected to the scent tank (C), and the building's existing Garbage Doctor 3000 (A) provides the ozone.

  • The fragrance. The scent tank sends a scented vapour through a white pipe into the garbage chute, where the vapour rises through the chute and escapes a little around the chute door on each level.
  • The ozone. The Garbage Doctor 3000 sends ozone through grey PVC conduit along the wall behind the rubbish and recycling bins, with holes drilled to release the ozone just above them. Targeting the ozone at the source neutralises the odour before the odour is drawn up the chute. The output is fully adjustable, on every Garbage Doctor, to suit each site.

Every site is a little different. Scenting has been installed with chutes, bins, carousels and compactors from all manufacturers, including Elephants Foot, WasteTech, JJ Richards, Wanless, James Hardie and JD MacDonald, and Scenting suits any commercial space that needs heavy-duty scenting.

On its own: loading docks and open spaces

On its own, Scenting freshens large open spaces such as loading docks, lobbies and public areas, around the compactor, the grease trap and the bins. Where the odour is strong, we recommend neutralising the odour first with ozone: the Garbage Doctor Duo does both.

This example shows a loading dock with Garbage Doctor Scenting installed. Tap a number to zoom in on each part of the process.

A loading dock with Garbage Doctor Scenting installedA large loading dock drawn in three dimensions: two roller doors, one open on a trailer, pallets of cartons, a pallet jack and a roll cage, a garbage compactor and a grease trap. On the wall between the doors is the Scenting control unit; a small air hose runs from the control unit along the wall to a scent tank near each end of the dock, the second one optional. A soft fragrance rises from the short pipe on each tank and spreads through the dock.

Tap a number to zoom in on each part, or press Next to be taken round in order.

  1. Mounted on the wall, the control unit manages the scenting, with a fine particle filter, and runs continuously, 24 hours a day, with a programmable timer. A small hose takes air from the control unit to each scent tank.

  2. The scent tank holds your choice of fragrance in high capacity, and sends a scented vapour into the dock through a short pipe on top.

  3. The scented vapour spreads through the loading dock. Scenting runs quietly, day and night.

  4. A large space can have a second scent tank, at the other end of the dock, run from the same control unit by a second small hose.

We'll plan the installation for your building

You are welcome to send us photos or a video of your bin room and chute, or we can meet you on site, whichever suits you best. We'll recommend the right model and send you a quote, and our technicians install and set up the machine for your site. The Garbage Doctor works with chutes, bins, carousels and compactors from all manufacturers, including Elephants Foot, WasteTech, JJ Richards, Wanless, James Hardie and JD MacDonald.

Tell us which fragrance you'd like, or we'll recommend one for your building.

Questions about Scenting

Can Scenting be used on its own?

Yes, for lobbies and public spaces. For a bin room or chute, we recommend Scenting with ozone: on its own, a fragrance only adds to the odour, leaving an uncomfortable mix.

Why air fresheners alone don't fix bin room odour

Does Scenting work with the ozone system we already have?

Yes, if your system is a Garbage Doctor. We usually re-pipe the existing system's ozone to target the bins or compactor, and send the scent into the chute. Scenting is designed for the Garbage Doctor, and isn't added to other ozone systems.

Which fragrances can we choose?

Our popular fragrances include Lemon Myrtle & Orange, Aloe Vera & Cucumber, Lychee Fusion, Riverstone, Forest Nights and Coconut & Vanilla. We're happy to recommend one that suits your building.
