Two air purifiers in one cabinet

The 4000 is part of our dual air purification range: the 4000 combines two separate purifiers in one cabinet.

  • The first is a UV ozone generator. The ozone generator sends ozone through conduit to the targeted odour sources: the garbage chute, and the bins, compactor or carousel.
  • The second treats the bin room's air. The air passes a UV-C lamp, which also activates a special coating inside the chamber. That starts a process called photocatalytic oxidation (PCO), which creates a powerful oxidising agent that breaks down odours as the air passes through.

There's a limit to how much ozone can be used in a bin room people work in, so the second purifier treats the air further than ozone alone can. For larger buildings we usually recommend the Ozone, or the Duo if you'd like the chute scented too.

An installation, and how the system works

The 4000 (A) is stainless steel, mounted on the bin room wall: the ozone generator and carbon filter in the lower part of the cabinet, and the UV-C and PCO chamber in the upper part. In this installation, grey PVC conduit runs above the recycling and general waste bins and then into the garbage chute, with small holes drilled above the bins to release the ozone just where the ozone is needed. Targeting the ozone at the source neutralises the odour before the air is drawn up the chute. The ozone output is fully adjustable, and set for each site. Customers generally notice a difference within about 15 minutes of installation.

Every site is a little different. The Garbage Doctor® has been installed with chutes, bins, carousels and compactors from all manufacturers, including Elephants Foot, WasteTech, JJ Richards, Wanless, James Hardie and JD MacDonald.

Questions about the 4000

Will an air purifier fix our bin room's odour?

A room air purifier on its own can't keep up. One with HEPA or carbon filters treats only the air that passes through the purifier, while the bins keep producing odour day and night and the chute carries the odour up the building. Those filters also load up and need replacing. The 4000 is an air purifier made for bin rooms: a UV ozone generator targets the bins and the chute, where the odour starts, and a second purifier treats the room's air.

What does the second purifier add?

Ozone is targeted at the bins and the chute, and there's a limit to how much can be used in a bin room people work in. The second purifier treats the room's air as well, with UV-C and PCO, so the odour is broken down further than ozone alone can.

Is the 4000 right for our building?

The 4000 suits small to medium apartment buildings. For larger ones, we usually recommend the Ozone, or the Duo if you'd like the chute scented too.
